LogPulse / templates

A release notes template you can actually reuse

Give every release a consistent shape: what changed, why it matters, who gets it and what to do next. Keep only the sections your update needs.

Example 1

The reusable structure

New

[Outcome-focused release title]

[One sentence explaining the benefit for the user.]

What's new

  • [Feature]: [What it helps the user do.]

Improvements

  • [A specific change and its practical impact.]

Fixes

  • [The affected workflow and what now works.]

Availability and next steps

[Eligible plans or platforms, rollout timing and exact UI path.]

[Required action, deadline and support contact if applicable.]

Why it works: Square-bracket text is a prompt to replace, not text to publish. Remove empty sections. A single-feature release rarely needs every heading.

Keep project handoffs moving

Assign a backup owner so questions don't stall when a teammate is away.

What's new

  • Backup owners: Choose a second contact in Project → Settings → Ownership.

Fixes

  • Owner notifications now link directly to the affected project.

Availability and next steps

Available to all workspaces today. Existing projects are unchanged until you choose a backup owner.

Why it works: This fictional example turns a feature label into a benefit and explicitly explains the effect on existing projects.

What makes a great changelog?

  • Lead with the user-visible benefit, not the internal ticket title.
  • Include availability, required action and an exact UI path when relevant.
  • Use one main idea per entry; group small fixes into readable lists.
  • Support metrics with evidence and context. Never invent impact or guarantees.
  • Put deadlines and migration requirements near the top of breaking changes.
  • Link release notes from inside your product and keep the public archive searchable.
